Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. Artist's Description
This painting has a spectacular presence. Using the technique of painting in reverse on plexiglass adds dimension and makes the colors seem more vivid. The paint is applied entirely on the reverse of the glass in a reverse order. The resulting art has the high gloss of the glass on the front and the textured paint on reverse. There are 10 to 20 layers of paint on the back, the last layer laid in first, the opposite of a traditional painting. The oranges, reds, purple, gold and azure paints are applied in a colorist, modern impressionist style. The viewer feels like they could walk into the canyon entrance. This is a canyon outside of Moab, Utah, near Arches National Park where I love to mountain bike.
